Description

The Knightsbridge GDM150IMW is a 2-way intelligent dimmer module designed for installation in grid wiring systems including Screwless, Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metal Clad ranges. The module automatically switches between trailing edge and leading edge dimming modes depending on the load connected, supporting 10-150W incandescent, 10-150W mains halogen, 10-150W low-voltage halogen with electronic transformers, and 5-150W dimmable LED lamps.

Installed as a single-gang grid module within a modular grid plate assembly, the dimmer operates via push on/off and rotary dimming control. The rotary dial adjusts brightness smoothly across the supported wattage range, while the push function provides hard on/off switching independent of the dimmed level. Two-way operation means the dimmer can be controlled from a second switching location elsewhere in the circuit, making it suitable for staircases, hallways and rooms with multiple entry points.

The module includes overload and over-temperature protection to prevent damage from excessive load or prolonged high-temperature operation. An integrated Inrush Current Limiter reduces the effects of high start-up currents when switching on high-wattage or multiple lamps. The white finish on the rotary knob and push plate matches Knightsbridge's matt white grid plate range. The module requires a 35mm minimum back box depth and fits grid plates supporting 25mm module width.

Knightsbridge recommends using no more than 10-12 individual lamps per dimmer to maintain consistent performance, and advises checking lamp manufacturer specifications before pairing dimmable LEDs with the module, as not all "dimmable" LEDs respond identically to trailing or leading edge control.

How does it switch between trailing and leading edge?

The dimmer automatically detects the load type connected and switches between trailing edge mode (for LEDs and electronic transformers) and leading edge mode (for incandescent and mains halogen) without manual intervention. This happens when the circuit is powered on.

Can it dim all LED bulbs?

Only dimmable LEDs rated for trailing edge or leading edge dimming will work. Not all "dimmable" LEDs respond consistently — some may flicker, buzz or refuse to dim smoothly. Check the lamp manufacturer's specification before pairing LEDs with this dimmer. Knightsbridge recommends using no more than 10-12 lamps per module.

What does 2-way operation mean?
