Description
The Knightsbridge GDM150IBB is a 2-way intelligent dimmer module with a brushed brass rotary knob and faceplate, designed for installation in Knightsbridge grid wiring systems. The module automatically detects whether the connected load is leading-edge or trailing-edge compatible, switching between modes to suit incandescent, halogen or dimmable LED lamps without manual configuration.
The dimmer handles 10-150W for incandescent and halogen lamps, 10-150W for low-voltage halogen with electronic transformers, and 5-150W for dimmable LED lamps. The rotary knob provides push on/off operation and continuous dimming control, while built-in overload protection, over-temperature protection and an inrush current limiter prevent damage from electrical surges. Knightsbridge recommends limiting usage to 10-12 lamps per dimmer to avoid inrush current issues when multiple lamps switch on simultaneously.
The module measures 56.3mm high by 25mm wide and requires a minimum 35mm back box depth. It fits into Knightsbridge grid plate systems including Screwless, Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metal Clad ranges, allowing the dimmer to be combined with switches, sockets and other grid modules in a single wall plate. The brushed brass finish carries a directional grain that catches light and complements warm-toned interiors, traditional schemes and heritage settings.

Frequently Asked
What is intelligent dimming and how does it work?
The dimmer automatically detects whether the connected load requires leading-edge or trailing-edge dimming and switches to the appropriate mode. This means it works with incandescent, halogen and most dimmable LED lamps without needing manual configuration or mode switches.
What grid systems is this compatible with?
The module fits all Knightsbridge grid plate systems including Screwless, Flat Plate, Raised Edge and Metal Clad ranges. It occupies one module space and can be combined with other grid modules (switches, sockets, data ports) in multi-gang grid plates.
Why is there a 10-12 lamp limit?
Multiple lamps switching on simultaneously create an inrush current spike that can exceed the dimmer's protection threshold. Limiting to 10-12 lamps per dimmer prevents this, even though the wattage total may be within the 150W rating.
What back box depth is needed?
A minimum 35mm back box depth is required. The module itself has a recessed depth of 22mm, with the remaining space needed for wiring and the grid plate frame.
