A telephone connection and a Cat 5 data socket sit side by side on one screwless plate, so voice and network share a single position on the wall rather than taking a place each. The moulded front shows no screw heads, which keeps the face clean and quick to wipe over. Its square face measures 88mm across. The strawberry finish is one we keep for rooms where the plate is meant to be part of the scheme rather than hidden in it.

This is a home office fitting first of all: a desk pushed against the wall, a router tucked beneath it, a handset kept where it can be heard. It suits a sitting room behind media furniture just as well, or a study, or a bedside for anyone who would rather run a cable than lean on wi-fi. The plate and body are moulded in ABS, a tough plastic that copes with the knocks a chair back or a desk edge gives a wall. Keep it looking right with a cloth barely damp with water, wrung out well, then dried off; solvents, abrasive creams and kitchen sprays dull moulded plastic and can leave a permanent mark. Switch the circuit off before anything damp goes near it. It carries a ten year warranty.
