Description

Two services share one flat plate here: a TV aerial socket sitting beside a Cat 5 data socket, so a television and a wired network run from the same point on the wall. The face is matt black with no screw heads breaking it up, and the plate is a neat 88mm square, small enough to sit quietly behind a desk or a media unit. The matt sheen keeps glare down and gives the black a soft, flat depth rather than a shine that picks up every fingerprint. Both openings are shuttered by the plate itself, so an unused port looks tidy rather than gaping.

This is the one we reach for in a home office or a study, where an aerial feed and a hard-wired connection are both wanted and a second plate would only clutter the wall. It works equally well in a bedroom used part-time for work, in a hallway with a console table, or at the back of a TV unit where streaming is happier on a cable than on wi-fi. It handles low voltage data circuits only and belongs in dry indoor rooms, so keep it away from bathroom zones and anywhere it might take spray or steam.

The plate is moulded polycarbonate, coloured through rather than sprayed on top, which is why the finish stays even at the edges and around the port openings. Keeping it clean is a matter of a dry microfibre cloth now and then; if something sticky lands on it, a barely damp cloth will lift it, though solvents, polishes and cream cleaners will dull a matt surface for good. It carries a ten year warranty. We like it in rooms where black ironmongery and dark switchgear are already doing the talking, and it pairs happily with charcoal or deep green walls.
