2 Gang Doorbell - Carbon Fibre

This is a screwless doorbell plate with a pair of retractive rockers, each one springing straight back the moment you lift your finger, so the chime sounds only while it is pressed. The front plate wears a carbon fibre texture, a fine woven pattern with a dry, matt feel that gives back very little shine, and the rockers are picked out in chrome for contrast. No screws show across the face, so the plate reads as one clean square on the wall.

Two gangs give you separate pushes, which suits a house with a front and a back door, a porch and a side gate, or a flat where the street entry and the door itself both need calling. We would put it in a hallway or entrance porch where the walls already run darker, since the carbon look sits happily beside charcoal paint, black ironmongery and smoked glass. It is one we reach for when a plain white plate would look like an afterthought next to the rest of the hardware.

The plate is moulded polycarbonate with metal components behind it, double insulated in use, and made to the British safety standard for household switches. It runs on ordinary household mains and belongs in dry rooms inside the house, so keep it clear of a porch that is open to the weather. For cleaning, wipe the textured face with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight after; leave solvents and cream cleaners alone, as they will dull the woven pattern. It carries a ten year warranty. What does a retractive rocker mean here?

The rocker does not stay down. It makes contact only while you hold it and springs back as soon as you release, which is exactly what a bell push or chime needs.

It is 88mm square with a 25mm depth behind the plate, so it matches the footprint of a standard single switch position.

What are the two gangs for?

Each gang is an independent push, so you can wire one to a front door chime and the other to a back door, side gate or a second chime tone.

Is the carbon fibre finish real woven carbon?

It is a textured finish that mimics the woven look, moulded into the polycarbonate face rather than a print that can rub away at the edges.

Can it be used outside by the door?

No. It is for indoor positions only, so the push goes inside the hallway or a fully enclosed porch rather than on an exposed external wall.
