Description

The Knightsbridge 2 gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a screwless antique brass faceplate. Made from 201 stainless steel with an antique brass PVD coating, the plate measures 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high and projects 4.3mm from the wall once fitted.

Designed for installation where back boxes remain after socket or switch removal during redecoration or rewiring, or where back boxes were installed for future use and are not yet needed. The screwless design uses a separate metal sub-frame that fixes to the back box, allowing the cover plate to clip on and off without visible fixings on the wall surface. The built-in gasket compresses against the wall to prevent light bleed and dust ingress around the plate edge.

The antique brass finish is a warm, mid-tone aged brass with subtle darkening and patina effect, pairing well with traditional and period interiors. The 201 stainless steel construction gives rigidity and resistance to warping, while the earth terminal on the back frame maintains bonding continuity. Certified to IEC 60670-1 and carrying a 25 year guarantee.

The 2 gang blanking plate is designed to fit standard 2 gang back boxes (47mm centres between fixing lugs). It covers the apertures for two single-gang outlets or one double-gang outlet.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that fixes to the back box with screws. The cover can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the plate and re-clipped without disconnecting any wiring.

Does the earth terminal need to be connected?

Yes. The earth terminal on the sub-frame should be connected to the earth conductor in the back box to maintain bonding continuity across the installation, even though the blanking plate itself carries no current.
