14W LED Bulkhead With PIR Sensor IP44 - White 6000K Daylight

The Knightsbridge BF1430S is a 14W LED bulkhead with an integrated PIR motion sensor, polycarbonate base and an opal acrylic diffuser. The integrated SMD LED panel delivers 1020 lumens of 6000K daylight white light through a 115-degree beam angle, and the PIR sensor switches the light on automatically when motion is detected within its range, then switches off after a pre-set delay.

Designed for bathrooms, hallways, stairwells, utility rooms, external porches and communal access corridors where automatic switching reduces energy use and removes the need for manual control, the bulkhead carries an IP44 rating for protection against water splashes from any direction. The 291mm diameter and 97mm projection suit standard ceiling and wall mounting, and the white polycarbonate construction resists impact and UV yellowing in outdoor installations.

The opal diffuser spreads the light evenly across the fitting to avoid visible LED hot-spots, and the 6000K colour temperature provides a clean, neutral-to-cool daylight tone that suits task-focused environments like corridors and storage areas where colour rendering is less critical than visibility. The SMD LED panel is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50, meaning the light output remains above 70% of initial lumens for the majority of that period under typical use. The bulkhead is not dimmable and requires a standard 230V 50Hz mains supply.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 60cm from the bath edge). It is not rated for zones 0 or 1 (inside or directly above a shower or bath).

How does the PIR sensor work?

The integrated PIR motion sensor detects movement within its range and automatically switches the LED on. After movement stops, the light remains on for a pre-set time period (typically adjustable during installation) before switching off. This reduces energy use in low-traffic areas like hallways and utility rooms.

Is the bulkhead dimmable?

No. The integrated LED panel and PIR circuitry are not compatible with dimmer switches. The light is either on at full output (1020lm) or off.

What colour temperature does it produce?

The bulkhead emits 6000K daylight white light, which is a neutral-to-cool tone suited to functional areas like corridors, storage rooms and external porches. It is cooler and more clinical than warm white (2700K-3000K) typically used in living spaces.
