Description

This Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit provides a dedicated switched outlet for fixed appliances behind an ultra-low-profile pearl flat plate. The unit accepts a standard 13A fuse to protect the connected appliance, with a rocker switch on the faceplate to isolate the supply without removing the fuse. The pearl finish is a soft silver-grey metallic tone that sits between bright chrome and brushed steel.

Designed for permanent connection of appliances like extractor hoods, waste disposals, boilers, immersion heaters and fridge-freezers, the fused spur keeps these loads on a dedicated protected circuit rather than sharing a standard socket. The flat plate sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall once fitted, making it one of the lowest-profile accessories in the Knightsbridge range. The unit fits a standard 25mm back box and meets BS 1363-4 certification for fused connection units.

The faceplate is stamped from premium-grade steel with a built-in gasket between the plate and the back box, which helps reduce rattle and improve the seal around the mounting aperture. The 13A rating suits fixed appliances like extractor hoods, waste disposal units, boilers, immersion heaters, fridge-freezers and washing machines where a permanent connection is preferred over a plug-and-socket arrangement. The appliance must draw no more than 13A (approximately 3,000W) on 230V mains.

Does the switch isolate the supply completely?

Yes. The rocker switch on the faceplate isolates the supply to the connected appliance without needing to remove the fuse. This allows the appliance to be switched off for servicing or in an emergency without accessing the fuse holder.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The ultra-low 2.5mm projection of the faceplate means the total depth from the wall surface is approximately 27.5mm once installed.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating limits the unit to dry indoor locations. For bathroom installation a higher IP-rated enclosure or a pull-cord switch arrangement is required to meet BS 7671 wiring regulations.
