13A 3 Gang Pop-Up Recessed Power Socket - Black IP54

The Knightsbridge SK006 is a 13A 3-gang pop-up socket that recesses into kitchen worktops, office desks and boardroom tables, rising vertically when power is needed and retracting flush when not in use. The unit locks upright during operation via a clip mechanism at the base, and a chrome handle on the top cap allows the column to be pulled up or pushed down. The three UK 13A sockets are arranged vertically down an aluminium column with inverted orientation (socket apertures face away from the worktop edge), allowing plugs to sit at any angle without interfering with adjacent outlets.

Designed for installation where surface-mounted sockets would disrupt clean lines or where workspace flexibility is needed, the pop-up socket requires a 90-92mm diameter hole cut into the worktop and a minimum 400mm void depth beneath the surface for the retracted column. The unit arrives with a fitted 2m cable terminating in a BS plug top, so it can be connected to a standard 13A outlet beneath the worktop or hard-wired into a fused spur. A backlit rocker switch on the column controls power to all three sockets simultaneously, with an orange indicator showing live status.

The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes when the unit is in the closed position, making it suitable for kitchen worktops near sinks or wet areas. The cable management cap at the top allows the socket to be retracted even with cables still plugged in, routing them through a central aperture rather than requiring full disconnection. What worktop thickness does it require?

The mounting board (worktop, desk surface, table) must be 10-50mm thick. The unit requires a 90-92mm diameter hole and 25mm clearance around the hole edge for the base plate. Beneath the surface, a minimum 400mm void depth is needed to house the retracted column.

Can the socket be closed with cables still plugged in?

Yes. The cable management cap at the top of the unit has a central aperture that allows cables to pass through when the socket is pushed down, so you can retract the unit without unplugging devices.

Is the IP54 rating maintained when the unit is extended?

The IP54 rating applies when the unit is in the closed, retracted position. When extended and in use, the socket outlets are exposed and the rating no longer applies. The rating protects against dust and water splashes when the socket is not in use.

How is the unit wired in?

The SK006 comes with a 2m cable fitted with a BS plug top. It can be plugged into a standard 13A socket beneath the worktop, or the plug can be removed and the cable hard-wired into a fused connection unit or consumer unit if permanent installation is preferred.
