Description

The Knightsbridge CU9948 is a 13A 2-gang double-pole switched socket with two USB-A charging ports delivering a combined 5V DC output at 4.8A. The white thermoset resin plate carries antimicrobial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing microbial growth on the surface between cleaning cycles. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral when the socket is turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole designs.

Designed for schools, healthcare facilities, hospitality and high-traffic commercial environments where hygiene is a priority, the socket features screw cap covers that hide the fixing screws for a cleaner wall finish. The easy-top access terminals speed up installation by allowing cables to be inserted from above rather than requiring side-entry terminations. The socket fits a standard 25-35mm back box depth depending on cable volume, or can be surface-mounted using a Knightsbridge CU1800 surface box (sold separately).

The 7mm plate depth and gently rounded edges reduce snag points and make the socket easier to wipe down during routine cleaning. The 146mm width and 86mm height match standard UK double-gang dimensions. The twin earth terminals accommodate ring final circuits and allow proper earthing of metal back boxes. The white finish integrates into painted walls, healthcare environments and modern interiors where a neutral aesthetic is required.
