Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang unswitched socket module is a 50 x 50mm component designed for euro-module faceplate systems, allowing bespoke electrical layouts in kitchens, offices and commercial installations. The module carries a 13A rating on 230V mains and is certified to BS 1363, providing a standard UK three-pin socket without a built-in switch — switching is controlled elsewhere in the circuit or by the appliance itself.
Designed for modular grid systems where faceplates hold multiple socket, switch and data modules in a single frame, this module clips into a euro-module mounting frame and sits behind a compatible faceplate. The black insert behind the socket aperture provides contrast against lighter-coloured faceplates or matches matt black and graphite finishes. The recessed depth of 28mm requires a minimum 35mm mounting box, allowing clearance for cable runs and rear terminations.
Constructed from ABS with an IP20 rating, the module is suitable for dry indoor locations. The earth terminal is present and the socket accepts standard UK plugs. The unswitched configuration is often preferred in installations where appliances are plugged in semi-permanently (under-counter fridges, office printers, built-in kitchen appliances) and switching is either not required or handled by a separate isolator switch in the same grid assembly.

Frequently Asked
What mounting box depth is required?
A minimum 35mm mounting box depth is needed. The module itself has a recessed depth of 28mm, with the remaining clearance allowing for cable runs and rear terminations within the box.
Can this module be used on its own?
No. This is a euro-module component that must be fitted into a compatible euro-module mounting frame and faceplate. The faceplate holds one or more 50 x 50mm modules in a single grid assembly.
Why is the socket unswitched?
Unswitched sockets are often used for semi-permanent appliances (fridges, printers, built-in kitchen equipment) where switching is either not needed or handled by a separate isolator switch in the same grid assembly. This allows more flexible circuit design in modular installations.
What other modules are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces a wide range of 50 x 50mm euro-modules including switched sockets, data outlets, USB charging ports, dimmer modules and blank plates. Use the search function or filters to find compatible modules and faceplates in stock at Niori.
