Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang switched socket integrates four USB charging ports behind a polished brass screwless faceplate with a black insert. The socket provides a single 13A outlet for mains appliances, while the USB array delivers a shared 5V DC 5.1A output split across four ports: one dedicated 2.1A port for tablets or high-draw devices, and three ports sharing 3A for phones, earbuds and smaller accessories.
Designed for bedrooms, hotel rooms, co-working desks and kitchen worktops where multiple devices need charging without occupying the mains outlet, the quad USB layout allows four simultaneous connections while the 13A socket remains available for a kettle, lamp or laptop charger. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, hiding all fixings once installed and giving a cleaner wall finish than screw-fixed alternatives.
The 201 stainless steel faceplate is finished in polished brass with a protective lacquer that resists tarnishing under normal indoor use. The black insert behind the brass plate defines each outlet aperture and hides the back of the cover. The socket is BS1363-2 certified and EMC/ErP compliant, and includes a gasket for secure flush mounting against plasterboard or masonry. A 25-35mm minimum back box depth is required depending on cable entry and termination space.

Frequently Asked
How is the 5.1A USB output split across the four ports?
One port is dedicated 2.1A for tablets or larger devices. The remaining three ports share 3A between them, suitable for phones, earbuds, smartwatches and similar accessories. The total USB output across all four ports is capped at 5.1A.
Can all four USB ports be used while the 13A socket is in use?
Yes. The USB charging circuit and the 13A mains socket operate independently, so you can charge four devices via USB and still power a mains appliance through the switched outlet.
What back box depth is needed?
A minimum 25mm back box depth is required for basic installations. In tight wiring conditions or where cables enter from the side, a 35mm back box may be necessary to accommodate terminations behind the socket mechanism.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The polished brass cover plate clips onto a metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
