Description
The Knightsbridge CU2100M is a 10AX single pole 2-way retractive switch module designed to fit within Curved Edge modular faceplates. The module provides momentary (retractive) switching rather than latched on/off, meaning the switch returns to its off position when released, making it suitable for smart lighting controllers, dimmer circuits, and other control systems that respond to brief contact pulses rather than sustained closed circuits.
Designed for installation within 2-gang, 3-gang, 4-gang or 6-gang Knightsbridge Curved Edge faceplates, the module allows bespoke switch configurations to be assembled by combining multiple modules behind a single cover plate. The 16mm width occupies one module position within the faceplate grid. The module fits into a standard 25mm back box (16mm minimum depth specified) and operates on 230V 50Hz circuits at a 10AX rating, handling loads up to 2,300W.
The white thermoset resin construction provides impact resistance and heat stability superior to standard thermoplastic switch bodies. The retractive action uses a spring-loaded rocker that clicks back to centre when finger pressure is released, giving tactile confirmation of each press. The module is typically paired with PIR sensors, smart home hubs, or electronic dimmers where a momentary pulse is needed to trigger an action rather than sustaining a circuit.

Frequently Asked
What does retractive mean?
Retractive (or momentary) means the switch spring-returns to its off position when released, rather than latching in the on position like a standard switch. It sends a brief pulse to the circuit each time it's pressed, making it suitable for smart lighting controllers and dimmers that respond to pulses rather than sustained closed contacts.
Which faceplates is this compatible with?
The module fits Knightsbridge Curved Edge modular faceplates in 2-gang, 3-gang, 4-gang and 6-gang configurations. Each module occupies one grid position within the faceplate, allowing custom switch layouts to be assembled by combining multiple modules behind a single cover plate.
What rating does it carry?
The module is rated at 10AX single pole on 230V 50Hz circuits, handling loads up to 2,300W. The single pole switching means it breaks only the live conductor, not both live and neutral.
Can it replace a standard 2-way switch?
Physically yes, but functionally it behaves differently. A standard 2-way switch latches in the on or off position, whereas this retractive module returns to centre each time it's pressed. It's designed for control systems that need momentary pulses rather than sustained circuits.
