Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX fan isolator switch provides triple-pole isolation for bathroom and utility room extractor fans behind an antique brass square edge faceplate. The switch disconnects all three poles (live, neutral and switching live) when turned off, allowing safe maintenance or replacement of fan units without needing to isolate the entire circuit at the consumer unit.
Designed for en-suites, family bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens where extractor fans require local isolation, the switch mounts in a standard 16mm minimum depth back box and projects just 10.5mm from the wall once fitted. The switch carries a 10AX rating at 230V, handling typical domestic fan loads and lighting circuits. The metal rocker is marked with 'FAN ISOLATOR' engraving and ON/OFF positions.
The antique brass finish provides a warm, aged metallic tone that pairs well with traditional bathroom fittings, brass tapware and heritage-style interiors. The square edge plate measures 89mm × 89mm and uses a screw-fixed design rather than screwless, with two visible fixing screws. The faceplate is constructed from premium-grade steel with the antique brass finish applied and lacquered to resist tarnishing in humid bathroom environments. The switch carries IP20 rating and is certified to EN 60669-1 and EN 60669-2-4 standards, with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What is a fan isolator switch used for?
A fan isolator switch allows safe isolation of an extractor fan without turning off power to the entire bathroom or utility room circuit. This is required by Building Regulations Part P for safe maintenance and replacement of fan units, and is typically installed outside the bathroom itself or in Zone 3 (more than 2.4m from water sources).
What back box depth is required?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. This is shallower than standard switches, making the switch suitable for stud walls and tight cavity depths where a 25mm or 35mm box cannot fit.
Is this switch screwless?
No. This is a square edge screw-fixed plate with two visible fixing screws on the faceplate. Knightsbridge produces screwless versions of this switch in other ranges if a screwless finish is preferred.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this square edge style in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, satin brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
