Description

The Knightsbridge CU4W is a 10AX 3-gang 2-way wide rocker switch with an anti-microbial white thermoset resin faceplate. Each of the three rockers controls a separate lighting circuit independently, allowing up to three different light zones to be switched from a single wall position. The 2-way configuration means each gang can be paired with another switch elsewhere in the room to control the same light from two locations.

Designed for residential, commercial and healthcare installations where hygiene matters, the faceplate incorporates anti-microbial additives tested to ISO 22196:2011 that inhibit bacterial growth on the switch surface. The wide rocker format provides a larger contact area than standard narrow rockers, making the switch easier to operate for users with reduced dexterity. The screwless design uses a clip-on faceplate with no visible fixings once installed, giving a cleaner finish than screw-fixed plates.

The 86mm square faceplate has a 9.5mm plate depth with gently contoured edges that sit 14.6mm proud of the wall when fitted. The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth and fits standard UK single-gang back boxes. The white thermoset resin construction is harder and more heat-resistant than standard thermoplastic, making it suitable for high-use areas including kitchens, bathrooms (IP20 rated for dry zones only), hallways and public spaces.

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows the same light to be controlled from two different switch positions. Each gang on this switch can be wired to work in tandem with another 2-way switch elsewhere in the room, so the light can be turned on or off from either location. This is common in hallways, staircases and larger rooms with multiple entry points.

What does the anti-microbial coating do?

The thermoset resin faceplate incorporates additives tested to ISO 22196:2011 that inhibit bacterial growth on the surface. This reduces the rate at which bacteria multiply after contact, which is useful in kitchens, bathrooms, healthcare facilities and other spaces where hygiene is a priority. The coating is built into the material, not applied as a surface layer.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The switch projects 14.6mm from the wall once fitted, with a recessed depth of 14.5mm sitting inside the back box.

Is the screwless plate removable?

Yes. The white faceplate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for redecorating and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
