Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 3-gang 2-way switch controls three separate lighting circuits, each operable from two locations, behind an antique brass screwless faceplate. The 10AX rating handles up to 2,300W per gang on 230V mains, making it suitable for multi-bulb ceiling lights, wall lights and larger LED installations. The 2-way switching configuration allows the same circuit to be controlled from both ends of a room, hallway or staircase.

Designed for residential installation in rooms requiring dual-location control of multiple lighting zones, the switch suits landing-to-stairwell runs, bedroom-to-en-suite doorways, and open-plan living spaces where lighting is controlled from both kitchen and lounge ends. The 16mm minimum back box depth fits standard UK back boxes, and the screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed.

The antique brass finish shows a warm, lightly aged patina with subtle tonal variation across the faceplate, achieved through a chemical treatment on stainless steel. This finish pairs with period, heritage and warm-toned contemporary interiors, complementing brass door furniture, cabinet handles and traditional metalwork. The metal rockers match the faceplate finish and sit flush when off, giving a clean profile. The built-in gasket behind the faceplate reduces dust ingress and provides IP20 protection.

2-way switching allows the same light to be controlled from two separate switch locations. Each gang on this switch can be paired with a corresponding 2-way switch at the other end of a room, hallway or staircase, so the light can be turned on or off from either position. This requires specific wiring during installation.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed. The switch projects 8.4mm from the wall surface once the screwless cover plate is clipped on.

Can the antique brass finish be cleaned?

Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints and dust. Avoid abrasive cleaners, metal polishes or harsh chemicals, as these can strip the antique patina and expose the underlying stainless steel.
