Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 3-gang 2-way plate switch controls three separate lighting circuits from two locations, housed behind an antique brass square-edge faceplate with matching metal rockers. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W per gang on 230V mains, suitable for most domestic and light commercial lighting circuits.
Designed for rooms requiring multi-location control of three separate circuits, this switch suits hallways with landings, staircases, large living rooms with multiple light zones, and commercial spaces needing flexible lighting control. The 2-way wiring allows each gang to be paired with a second switch elsewhere in the room, enabling lights to be controlled from both entry and exit points. The 16mm minimum back box depth makes it compatible with shallow retrofit applications where standard 25mm boxes cannot fit.
The antique brass finish is brushed and then treated to create a darker, aged patina that highlights the brushed grain pattern beneath. This finish develops further character over time as natural oxidation deepens the surface tone, making it well-suited to period properties, traditional interiors and heritage refurbishments. The square edge profile sits flush against the wall without a bevelled surround, giving a clean geometric appearance. The built-in gasket behind the faceplate provides IP20 dust ingress protection and helps reduce air gaps around the plate edge.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way mean?
A 2-way switch can be wired to control the same light from two different locations. For example, a landing light controlled from both upstairs and downstairs, or a bedroom light controlled from both the door and the bedside. Each of the three gangs on this switch can be independently wired as 2-way.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm back box depth is required. This shallow requirement makes the switch suitable for retrofit installations where wall depth is limited or where chasing deeper boxes into masonry is not practical.
How does the antique brass finish age?
The antique brass finish is pre-aged during manufacture with a darker patina that highlights the brushed grain. Over time, natural oxidation will continue to deepen the surface tone and may create subtle tonal variation depending on handling and environmental exposure. This is characteristic of living finishes and is not a defect.
What is the load capacity per gang?
Each gang is rated at 10AX, which handles up to 2,300W at 230V. This accommodates most domestic lighting loads including multiple LED downlights, pendant circuits, and wall lights on a single gang.
