Description
The Knightsbridge PM3W is a 10AX 2-gang 2-way wide rocker switch with a white thermoset resin faceplate and anthracite rocker inserts, designed to meet Building Regulations Part M for accessible housing and public buildings. The wider rocker design provides a larger contact area than standard rocker switches, making the switch easier to operate for users with reduced dexterity or visual impairment. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, concealing all fixings behind a flat front surface.
Designed for residential, care home, educational and public building installation, the switch fits a minimum 16mm back box depth and provides 2-way switching control for two separate lighting circuits rated up to 10AX (2,300W per gang at 230V). The anthracite rocker colour against the white faceplate gives high visual contrast between the switch mechanism and the plate, helping users identify the switching position at a glance in low-light conditions or from a distance.
The faceplate is treated with an anti-microbial surface certified to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibits bacterial growth on high-touch surfaces in shared or clinical environments. The thermoset resin construction resists scratching and impact better than standard thermoplastic faceplates, and the switch carries a 25-year manufacturer guarantee. The 86mm square plate matches standard UK socket and switch footprints, allowing the PM3W to sit alongside other accessories in the same installation without mismatched sizing.

Frequently Asked
What makes this switch Part M compliant?
Part M of the Building Regulations requires accessible design in public buildings and certain residential properties. This switch meets Part M through its wide rocker mechanism (easier to operate with reduced hand strength or dexterity), high visual contrast between the anthracite rocker and white faceplate, and anti-microbial surface suitable for shared environments.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 14.6mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What does 2-way switching mean?
2-way switching allows a single light or circuit to be controlled from two different switch locations (e.g., top and bottom of a staircase). Each gang on this switch supports independent 2-way control.
Can the faceplate be removed for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The plate can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
