Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way toggle switch controls two separate lighting circuits from two locations, housed behind an antique brass faceplate with matching metal toggle dollies. Each toggle operates on a 2-way switching circuit, allowing control of a single light from two different wall positions — typically found at opposite ends of a hallway, top and bottom of a staircase, or either entrance to an open-plan kitchen-dining space.
The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W per gang, covering most domestic and commercial lighting circuits including LED, halogen and filament. The square edge faceplate sits 10.5mm proud of the wall surface and requires a minimum 16mm back box depth, making it compatible with shallow mounting boxes where space behind the plasterboard is limited. The antique brass finish is a warm, slightly tarnished brass tone with subtle darkening at the edges, matching traditional and heritage interiors as well as contemporary schemes that use brass as an accent.
The faceplate is premium-grade steel with a protective antique brass lacquer that resists fingerprints and minor wear. The toggles are metal rather than plastic, giving a consistent finish across the plate and a firmer switching action than standard toggle switches. A built-in gasket between the plate and the back box provides IP20-rated dust protection and reduces air leakage through the switch aperture. Certified to EN 60669-1 and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way switching mean?
2-way switching allows the same light to be controlled from two different wall positions. Each gang on this switch operates one lighting circuit, with each circuit controllable from this switch and a second 2-way switch elsewhere in the room. This is standard for hallways, staircases and rooms with two entrances.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm mounting box depth is needed. The switch is designed for shallow installations where deeper boxes cannot be fitted, such as dot-and-dab plasterboard walls or heritage properties with shallow chases.
Are the toggles metal or plastic?
The toggles are metal with the same antique brass finish as the faceplate. This gives a consistent appearance and a firmer switching action than standard plastic toggle dollies.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this square edge toggle switch in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
