Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way plate switch features an antique brass finish on premium-grade steel construction with matching metal rockers. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains, making it suitable for standard domestic lighting circuits including multi-bulb ceiling fittings and wall lights.
Two-way switching allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two different locations, typically used in hallways with switches at both ends, staircases with ground-floor and first-floor controls, or large rooms with entry points at opposite sides. Each gang operates independently, so the switch can control two separate lighting circuits or two different sets of lights within the same room.
The square edge faceplate sits flush to the wall with visible screw fixings at top and bottom. The antique brass finish is a darker, warmer brass tone with deliberately applied patina that gives the appearance of aged metalwork, pairing well with period properties, traditional interiors and warm-toned contemporary schemes. The integrated gasket behind the faceplate provides additional protection against dust ingress, and the switch carries IP20 rating for standard indoor use.
The switch requires a minimum 16mm mounting box depth for installation and uses screw terminals for wiring connections. Knightsbridge backs this switch with a 25-year warranty and EN 60669-1 certification for safety and performance standards.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between 1-way and 2-way switching?
One-way switches control a light from a single location. Two-way switches allow the same light to be controlled from two different locations, such as both ends of a hallway or top and bottom of a staircase. This switch is 2-way, so it can be wired for either single-location or dual-location control.
What mounting box depth is needed?
A minimum 16mm back box depth is required. The faceplate adds 10.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 26.5mm including the plate.
Is this a screwless plate?
No. This is a traditional screw-fixed plate with visible fixing screws at top and bottom of the faceplate. Knightsbridge produces screwless versions of this finish in separate product ranges if you prefer a no-screw appearance.
What finish options are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this square-edge screw-fixed switch style in multiple finishes including polished brass, brushed brass, polished chrome, brushed chrome, matt black and white. Use the search function or category filters to find other finishes in stock at Niori.
