Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang double pole wide rocker switch combines a white thermoset resin faceplate with an anthracite rocker, delivering an 8.9 LRV (Light Reflectance Value) contrast that meets Part M building regulation requirements for accessible dwellings. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines, providing full circuit isolation when switched off.
Designed for bathrooms, utility rooms and assisted living environments where visibility and hygiene matter, the switch uses a screwless curved-edge cover plate that hides fixings for a cleaner wall finish. The wide rocker button is easier to operate than a standard rocker for users with reduced dexterity or visual impairment. The anti-microbial surface treatment inhibits bacterial growth on the faceplate, third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011.
The white plate with dark anthracite rocker creates high visual contrast under most lighting conditions, making the switch easier to locate on a wall. The 10AX rating handles resistive loads up to 2,300W at 230V, suitable for lighting circuits, extractor fans and similar appliances. The switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and projects 14.6mm from the wall once installed, with captive terminals that hold wiring securely during cover plate removal.

Frequently Asked
What does Part M compliant mean?
Part M of the UK Building Regulations sets accessibility standards for new dwellings. This switch meets Part M requirements through high visual contrast (8.9 LRV difference between white plate and anthracite rocker) and a wide rocker that's easier to operate than standard switches.
What is double pole switching?
Double pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is turned off, providing complete circuit isolation. Single pole switches only break the live conductor. DP switching is commonly specified for bathroom extractor fans and other appliances requiring full isolation.
What back box depth is required?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. The switch projects 14.6mm from the wall once fitted, with 14.5mm recessed into the wall.
How does the anti-microbial coating work?
The thermoset resin faceplate includes an anti-microbial treatment that inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. The treatment has been third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011. This reduces bacterial contamination in high-touch environments like bathrooms and care facilities, though regular cleaning is still required.
