Description
The Knightsbridge CU2W is a 10AX 1-gang 2-way rocker switch with an anti-microbial white screwless faceplate tested to ISO 22196:2011. The wide rocker design provides a larger actuation surface than standard narrow rockers, making it easier to operate for users with reduced dexterity or when hands are full. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate mounting frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed.
Designed for healthcare facilities, schools, care homes and commercial environments where surface hygiene matters, the anti-microbial coating actively reduces bacterial growth on the faceplate surface. The 2-way switching allows the same circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations, making it suitable for hallways, staircases and rooms with multiple entry points. The 10AX rating handles resistive loads up to 2,300W at 230V, covering most domestic and light commercial lighting circuits.
The white thermoset resin construction provides impact resistance and maintains colour stability over the lifetime of the installation. The rounded corners reduce dirt traps and make the switch easier to wipe down during cleaning routines. At 86mm square, the faceplate matches standard UK switch dimensions and fits a minimum 16mm back box depth, though a 25mm box is recommended for cable management. The 14.6mm wall projection sits flush with typical plasterwork and skirting profiles.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way switching mean?
2-way switching allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations. This is typically used in hallways, staircases or rooms with two entrances where you want to turn the same lights on or off from either position. It requires a second 2-way switch wired in parallel.
How does the anti-microbial coating work?
The faceplate is treated with an anti-microbial additive that actively reduces bacterial growth on the surface. This has been third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011 standards. It does not replace regular cleaning but reduces the rate at which bacteria colonise the switch between wipes.
What back box depth is needed?
The minimum back box depth is 16mm, though a 25mm box is recommended for easier cable management and termination. The screwless cover plate clips onto a mounting frame fixed to the back box.
Can the faceplate be removed for redecorating?
Yes. The white cover plate clips onto a separate mounting frame and can be removed without disconnecting the wiring, allowing walls to be painted or papered around the switch and the plate re-clipped afterwards.
