Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way toggle switch uses a dolly toggle mechanism behind an ultra-flat antique brass screwless faceplate. The 2-way configuration allows the switch to be paired with a second switch elsewhere to control the same lighting circuit from two locations, typical for staircases, long hallways and rooms with multiple entry points.
Designed for residential and hospitality installation, the switch requires only a 16mm minimum back box depth, making it suitable for shallow wall cavities and surface-mounted back boxes where deeper switches cannot fit. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, so there are no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains, suitable for multi-bulb ceiling lights and larger chandeliers.
The antique brass finish is applied to a 201 stainless steel faceplate with a brushed texture and darkened patina, giving a warm aged-metal appearance that suits period, traditional and industrial interiors. The ultra-flat design projects just 22.5mm from the wall including the toggle, compared to 35-40mm for standard switches. An integrated gasket behind the faceplate provides additional protection against dust ingress in environments where the switch is close to moisture sources, though the IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way mean?
A 2-way switch can be paired with another 2-way switch to control the same lighting circuit from two locations. This is standard for staircases and hallways where you need to turn the same light on or off from either end of the space.
What back box depth is required?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. The ultra-flat design allows installation in shallow wall cavities where standard switches requiring 25-35mm depth cannot fit.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this ultra-flat toggle switch in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
