Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way switch controls a single light circuit from two different locations, housed behind an antique brass screwless faceplate with a matching rocker. The 10AX rating handles circuits up to 2,300W, making it suitable for standard lighting loads and small appliance circuits where 2-way switching is required.
Designed for hallways, staircases, through-lounges and bedrooms where one light needs to be controlled from two positions, the switch uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This gives a clean finish with no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth, shallower than most standard switches, which suits retrofit installations where wall cavity depth is limited.
The antique brass finish is a brushed brass base with a darkened patina, giving a warmer, more aged tone than polished brass. The 201 stainless steel construction beneath the brass finish provides corrosion resistance and structural rigidity. The plate measures 87.5mm square with rounded corners and projects 8.4mm from the wall once fitted, maintaining a low profile against the mounting surface.
The switch carries a 25-year manufacturer guarantee and is certified to EN 60669-1 for domestic and commercial installation. The captive terminals retain fixing screws within the terminal block, preventing loose screws from falling into the back box during wiring.

Frequently Asked
What is 2-way switching and where is it used?
2-way switching allows one light to be controlled from two different switch positions. This is standard in hallways where switches sit at each end, on staircases where switches are at the top and bottom, and in through-lounges or bedrooms with two entry points. The switch requires a second 2-way switch wired in parallel to function.
What back box depth is required?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. This is shallower than most standard switches, making it suitable for retrofit installations where wall cavity depth is limited or where shallow back boxes are already in place.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The antique brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The plate can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this switch style in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black, white and stainless steel. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
