Description
The Knightsbridge GDM014U is a 1-gang trailing edge dimmer module rated at 10-200W for incandescent loads or 10-100W for LED loads, controlling up to 10-12 LED lamps on a single circuit. The module fits Knightsbridge grid plates and other compatible modular systems, providing dimming control where fixed dimmers are not practical or where multiple switches need to share a common faceplate.
Designed for residential, hospitality and office installations, the module uses trailing edge technology to dim both dimmable LED and incandescent fittings without the flicker or hum that older leading-edge dimmers produce with LED bulbs. Operation is press-to-toggle on/off and press-and-hold to dim up or down, eliminating the need for a separate rotary dial or slider. The 1-way configuration means the module controls a single lighting circuit from a single location, not a two-way setup.
The module measures 56.3mm tall by 25mm wide, occupying a single gang aperture in a grid plate. The white UREA finish matches standard white grid plates across the Knightsbridge range. The module requires a minimum 35mm back box depth for safe installation and is rated to IP20, making it suitable for dry indoor areas but not bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use. Construction is ABS plastic with internal components certified to EN 60669-2.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing edge and leading edge dimming?
Trailing edge dimmers cut the trailing portion of the AC waveform, producing smoother dimming with less electromagnetic interference. This makes them compatible with dimmable LED and low-voltage halogen fittings where leading edge dimmers often cause flicker, hum or premature bulb failure.
Can this control LED bulbs?
Yes, provided the LED bulbs are marked as dimmable. The module handles 10-100W of dimmable LED load, equating to approximately 10-12 standard LED bulbs. Non-dimmable LEDs will not dim and may flicker or fail if connected to a dimmer circuit.
What grid plate does it fit?
The module fits any Knightsbridge modular grid plate with standard 25mm gang apertures. It occupies one gang position, so a 2-gang plate can accommodate two modules, a 3-gang plate three modules, and so on. The white UREA finish matches Knightsbridge white grid plates.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means the module is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be installed in dry indoor areas outside bathroom zones. For bathroom dimming, use an IP-rated dimmer designed for wet environments.
