Description

The Knightsbridge 1-way trailing edge pull cord dimmer switch provides variable light control from a 75mm circular ceiling rose finished in antique brass. The unit supports 10-150W incandescent loads or 5-100W LED loads on 230V mains, with a trailing edge dimming circuit designed to reduce flicker and buzzing in modern dimmable LED bulbs.

Designed for ceiling pendant installations where wall-mounted dimming is impractical or where the ceiling rose itself becomes a visible design element, the dimmer operates via a black fabric-covered pull cord on a 1.5m cable. Pull once to switch on or off, hold the cord to ramp brightness up or down. A built-in potentiometer allows fine adjustment of the dimming curve during installation, letting the electrician calibrate the dimmer's response to match the specific LED driver characteristics of the connected bulb.

The antique brass finish provides a warm, aged metallic tone that pairs well with traditional, classical and warm-toned interiors, particularly where existing brass or bronze hardware is present. The 75mm diameter and 36mm height give the unit a low-profile presence on the ceiling. The Class II double-insulated construction and IP20 rating make it suitable for dry interior locations. Certified to EN 60669-2 for trailing edge dimming applications.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs are compatible with this dimmer?

The dimmer supports 10-150W incandescent bulbs or 5-100W dimmable LED bulbs on 230V mains. LED compatibility depends on the specific LED driver used by the bulb manufacturer — check that the bulb is labelled as dimmable and compatible with trailing edge dimmers before pairing. The built-in potentiometer allows fine adjustment of the dimming curve to reduce flicker with specific LED models.

How does the pull cord operation work?

Pull the cord once to switch the light on or off. Hold the cord and the dimmer will ramp the brightness up or down continuously. Release the cord to stop at the desired level. The 1.5m cable length allows the pull cord to hang at a convenient height for most ceiling installations.

Can this be installed in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating means the dimmer is suitable for dry interior locations only and must not be installed in bathroom zones where moisture or splashing may occur. Install in hallways, bedrooms, living rooms or other dry areas only.

What's the difference between trailing edge and leading edge dimming?

Trailing edge dimmers work by cutting the end of each AC waveform cycle rather than the start, which reduces electrical noise and flickering in modern dimmable LED bulbs and low-voltage transformers. Trailing edge is the preferred dimming method for most contemporary dimmable LED loads.
