Description
The Knightsbridge SF2191AB is a single-gang intelligent dimmer with a rotary control behind an antique brass screwless faceplate. The dimmer handles resistive loads from 10-200W and dimmable LED loads from 5-150W, switching automatically between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes depending on the connected lamp type. A push-on/push-off centre button sits within the rotary dial, allowing the circuit to be switched without touching the dimmer setting.
Designed for single-zone dimming control in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, the dimmer suits retrofit installations where existing rotary dimmers are being replaced or new circuits where a traditional rotary interface is preferred over touch-sensitive controls. The 2-way wiring allows control from two switch positions, making it suitable for rooms with two entry points or where bedside control is needed alongside door control. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, hiding all fixings once installed.
The antique brass finish is a mid-tone brushed brass with a deliberate patina, giving a warmer, aged appearance compared to polished or satin brass. The 201 stainless steel construction underneath the brass finish provides durability in high-use positions. The dimmer includes built-in overload and overheat protection, plus an integrated inrush current limiter to handle the initial power draw when switching LED loads. Mode and trim adjustments are accessible from the front plate without removing the cover, allowing the dimmer to be fine-tuned to specific lamp types after installation.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?
Trailing-edge dimming is designed for LED and CFL lamps, cutting power at the end of each AC cycle to reduce electrical noise and flickering. Leading-edge dimming suits older incandescent and halogen lamps, cutting power at the start of each cycle. This dimmer is preset to trailing-edge but can be switched to leading-edge from the front plate if needed.
Can it be used with non-dimmable LED bulbs?
No. The dimmer must only be used with lamps marked as dimmable. Connecting non-dimmable LEDs will cause flickering, buzzing or premature lamp failure, and may damage the dimmer's internal circuitry.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed. The dimmer module itself recesses 21.3mm into the box, with the screwless plate adding 22.6mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
How is the dimming range adjusted?
The minimum and maximum brightness levels can be trimmed using controls accessible from the front of the dimmer without removing the cover plate. This allows the dimmer to be calibrated to the specific lamps connected, preventing issues with lamps not fully switching off or flickering at low settings.
