Description

The Knightsbridge GDM014PC is a 1-gang 1-way trailing edge dimmer module rated for 10-200W incandescent loads or 10-100W LED loads (up to 10-12 lamps depending on bulb type). The module fits into Knightsbridge's modular grid system, designed to be paired with a separate polished chrome grid faceplate sold separately. Trailing edge dimming suits LED and low-voltage halogen loads better than leading edge technology, reducing flicker and hum with compatible bulbs.

Designed for installation in residential and commercial interiors where dimming control is needed within a grid plate setup, the module allows simple press-on/off switching and press-and-hold brightness adjustment. The dimmer provides smooth control across its rated wattage range, making it suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, hospitality spaces and offices where adjustable lighting levels are required. The 35mm minimum mounting box depth accommodates standard UK grid back boxes.

The polished chrome finish on the faceplate (sold separately) provides a high-gloss reflective surface that pairs with other polished chrome grid modules and accessories in the Knightsbridge range. The module itself is constructed from ABS plastic and steel components, with an IP20 rating for dry indoor environments. The unit carries EN 60669-2 certification for electrical safety and a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

What's the difference between trailing edge and leading edge dimming?

Trailing edge dimmers switch off at the end of the AC waveform cycle, which reduces electrical noise and flicker when dimming LED and low-voltage halogen loads. Leading edge dimmers switch on at the start of the cycle and suit traditional incandescent and halogen bulbs better. For LED compatibility, trailing edge is the recommended technology.

Does this include the faceplate?

No. This is a grid module only, designed to fit into Knightsbridge's modular grid system. You need to purchase a separate polished chrome grid faceplate to complete the installation. Grid plates are available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and 4-gang configurations depending on how many modules you're installing.

How many LED bulbs can it control?

The module is rated for 10-100W of LED load, which typically supports 10-12 individual LED bulbs depending on their wattage. For example, 10 x 10W LED bulbs would sit within the 100W limit. Always check the total wattage of your bulbs before connecting.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm mounting box depth is needed for safe installation. The module has a recessed depth of 21.8mm, leaving clearance for wiring and heat dissipation within the box.
