Description

The Ramses is a three-arm chandelier built around double-cone shades in matt black, set on a brushed brass frame and central hub. Each shade is an hourglass pair of metal cones - a smaller upturned cone on top and a larger downward cone below - joined by a brass collar. The interior of every cone is finished in gold, so light bounces off the reflective lining and warms as it leaves the shade.

Sized at 65cm wide and 55cm tall, the Ramses suits dining tables of 1.2-1.8m, kitchen islands, and open-plan living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m and above. The downward cones throw directed light onto the surface below, while the upturned cones wash light towards the ceiling, giving both task and ambient output from a single fitting. Each shade takes one E27 bulb (3 in total, sold separately), and the 150cm cable allows the drop to be shortened on installation.

The fitting draws on mid-century Italian Stilnovo design, where conical shades and slim brass arms were used to balance industrial materials with sculptural form. The matt black powder-coat keeps the shades from competing with the brass, and the gold cone interiors add a warm tonal accent when the lamps are lit. The metal construction is solid rather than hollow-pressed, giving the chandelier weight and presence without excessive bulk in the room.

What bulbs does the Ramses take?

The chandelier takes 3 x E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, one per shade, sold separately. A warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the gold cone interiors and gives a warm overall light.

Does it light up and down, or only down?

Each shade is a double cone, so light projects both downward through the larger cone and upward through the smaller cone above. This gives directed task light on the surface below and a softer wash on the ceiling at the same time.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher. The 150cm cable can be shortened on installation, so the chandelier can be set at the correct drop above a dining table (typically 700-800mm above the surface) or kitchen island.

Is it dimmable?

The Ramses itself has no built-in dimming. Dimmability depends on the bulbs fitted - choose dimmable LED E27 bulbs and pair with a compatible LED dimmer switch if dimming is required.
