Description

The Mercury Eco is a twin RG6 coaxial cable carrying two parallel 75-ohm signal paths in a single black PVC sheath. Each conductor is built around a 1mm solid copper-clad steel core, surrounded by a 4.6mm foamed polyethylene dielectric, an aluminium/PET foil screen, and a 64-strand aluminium braid. The twin construction allows two independent signal runs to be installed in a single cable pull, reducing labour and visible cable runs on exterior walls.

Designed for satellite dish installations using dual or quad LNBs, the cable supports frequencies from 5MHz to 2150MHz with attenuation performance meeting RG6 standards across the full satellite IF band. The foamed PE dielectric gives the cable an 83% velocity factor and 54pF/m capacitance, making it suitable for long cable runs without requiring in-line amplification. The 250m reel includes metric cut markers, allowing installers to measure and cut cable lengths on site without separate measuring equipment.

The twin configuration suits installations where two satellite feeds need to run to a single receiver location, or where a CCTV system requires both video and power over separate coaxial paths. Each 6.6mm cable sits side-by-side within the outer sheath, and the entire assembly weighs 19.3kg on the reel. The black PVC sheath resists UV degradation on exposed exterior runs and pairs cleanly with black satellite dish hardware and wall-mounted junction boxes.

Frequently Asked

What installations is twin RG6 coaxial cable used for?

Twin RG6 cable is most commonly used for satellite dish installations with dual or quad LNBs, where two separate signal feeds need to run to a receiver location. It's also suitable for CCTV systems requiring two independent coaxial runs, or for installations where routing two separate cables would be impractical.

What's the maximum cable run length without signal loss?

Signal attenuation depends on frequency. At 1000MHz the cable loses 22.2dB per 100m, and at 2150MHz it loses 33.3dB per 100m. Most satellite receivers require a minimum signal level of around -65dBm, so maximum run length depends on the input signal strength from the LNB and the receiver's sensitivity threshold.

Can the two cables be separated?

The two RG6 cables sit side-by-side within a single outer sheath and cannot be physically separated without cutting the sheath. If independent routing is needed at any point in the installation, use two separate single RG6 cables instead.

What connectors are needed for termination?

Standard F-type compression or crimp connectors designed for 6.6mm RG6 cable are used to terminate each conductor. Two connectors are needed per cable end — four connectors total for a point-to-point run.
