Description

The Mercury 2m power lead connects a UK BS 1363 plug to an IEC C13 socket, the standard configuration for desktop PCs, monitors, printers, AV receivers and similar mains-powered equipment. The cable carries 3-core 3 x 0.75mm² conductors rated to 10A, with a fused UK plug providing overcurrent protection at source.

Designed for office desks, home studio setups and equipment racks where mains sockets sit 1-2m from the device, the 2m length gives enough slack to route behind furniture or cable-manage neatly without excess coiling. The white outer jacket sits comfortably in neutral-toned workspaces and blends into white walls or skirting runs. The BS 1363 plug fits all UK mains sockets and the IEC C13 socket pairs with the standard kettle-style inlet found on most desktop electronics.

The 10A rating supports continuous loads up to 2300W at 230V, covering typical desktop PC, monitor and printer combinations without approaching current limits. The cable weighs 211g over its 2m run, making it easy to handle during installation without being so light that it tangles or shifts position once routed. The BSI-approved 3-core construction meets UK wiring regulations for permanently connected appliances.

Frequently Asked

What equipment uses an IEC C13 socket?

IEC C13 is the standard inlet on desktop PCs, monitors, printers, AV receivers, mixers, powered studio monitors, network switches and many other mains-powered electronics. It's the rectangular three-pin socket commonly called a kettle lead socket.

Is the UK plug fused?

Yes. The BS 1363 plug contains a 10A fuse that protects the cable and connected device from overcurrent conditions. This is a requirement for UK mains plugs.

Can this cable handle a desktop PC and monitor together?

The 10A rating supports up to 2300W continuous load at 230V. A typical desktop PC draws 100-300W and a monitor 30-80W, so this cable comfortably handles both when daisy-chained through a PC's pass-through socket or used separately. High-end gaming PCs with dedicated GPUs may require separate direct mains connections.

What other lengths are available?

Mercury produces this cable in 1m, 2m and 5m variants. Use the site search or filter by vendor to find other lengths in stock at Niori.
