Description
The Inglenook is a 407mm diameter flush ceiling light built around a handcrafted Tiffany-style stained glass dome in a geometric Arts & Crafts pattern, mounted directly to a vintage bronze metal base with a 151mm ceiling projection. The glass dome contains over 100 individual pieces of cut glass in amber, cream, sapphire blue and russet brown, arranged in radiating stepped bands that diffuse light outward while casting coloured shadow patterns onto surrounding walls and ceilings. Two E27 bulb holders inside the dome allow up to 60W per socket.
Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.4m where a pendant would hang too low, the Inglenook suits bedrooms, landings, hallways, and period cottages where ceiling clearance is limited. The flush mount sits tight to the ceiling, leaving maximum headroom below while still providing ambient light through the coloured glass. The fixture works well over reading areas, above landing stairs, and in alcoves where decorative overhead lighting is wanted without vertical drop. The two-bulb configuration spreads light more evenly across the glass than single-bulb alternatives.
Each glass dome is assembled by hand using traditional copper-foil Tiffany technique, soldering individual cut glass pieces onto a framework before attaching to the bronze base. The vintage bronze finish is a dark, warm brown-grey patina that complements oak, walnut and mahogany furniture and pairs comfortably with terracotta, deep greens and heritage paint colours in traditional and Arts & Crafts interiors. The 407mm diameter provides enough visual presence to anchor a 3-4m bedroom or hallway without overwhelming smaller spaces under 10m².

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Inglenook takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-8W and 2700K to complement the amber and cream tones in the glass.
Is it suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. The 151mm projection from ceiling to base of glass dome makes this one of the lowest-profile decorative ceiling lights available, designed specifically for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.4m where pendants would hang too low.
Is the glass pattern consistent between fittings?
The geometric layout follows the same design across all Inglenook fittings, but because each dome is hand-assembled from individual cut glass pieces, slight tonal and textural variation between pieces is normal and characteristic of Tiffany-style construction.
Can it be fitted to a sloped ceiling?
The flush mount is designed for horizontal ceilings. Fitting to sloped or vaulted ceilings may require a custom mounting plate or adapter, which is not included with the fitting.
