Description

The Knightsbridge FP8900BCW is a dual voltage shaver socket that accepts both 115V and 230V shavers at 20VA output, behind a brushed chrome flat plate with a white insert. The dual voltage support eliminates the need for separate adapters when travelling between UK and US voltage standards, or when using older shaver models that require 115V input.

Designed for bathroom installation in zones 2 and 3 where moisture is present but not directly exposed to spray, the socket carries an IP41 rating and includes a built-in gasket to reduce moisture ingress around the faceplate edges. The flat plate construction adds just 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted to a 47mm minimum depth back box, making it suitable for installation behind mirrors or in tight alcoves where standard sockets would protrude too far.

The brushed chrome finish provides a low-sheen metallic surface that resists fingerprints and complements contemporary and traditional bathroom fittings. The white insert behind the faceplate houses the dual voltage outlet apertures and shaver symbol graphic. Knightsbridge backs this socket with a 25-year warranty and EN 61558 compliance for transformer-based shaver supply units.

What bathroom zones can this socket be installed in?

The IP41 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, where moisture is present but the socket is not directly exposed to water jets or spray. It cannot be installed in zone 0 (inside the bath or shower) or zone 1 (directly above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m).

Will this work with both UK and US shavers?

Yes. The socket provides both 115V and 230V outputs at 20VA, covering the voltage requirements for UK shavers (230V) and US/international shavers (115V). The plug apertures accept standard two-pin shaver plugs from both regions.

What back box depth is needed?

A 47mm minimum mounting box depth is required. The flat plate design adds only 2.5mm projection from the wall, making the total depth from wall surface to front of plate approximately 50mm when installed.

Is the faceplate screwless?

No. The flat plate design uses visible fixing screws at top and bottom. The ultra-low 2.5mm projection is the defining feature of this range rather than screw concealment.
