Description

This COB LED strip light gives a continuous, dot-free line of light along a flexible 5 metre reel, drawing 8W per metre for around 720 lumens per metre of even output. Sold in the US as LED tape light, it puts a smooth ribbon of cool white 4000K illumination wherever a hard line of diodes would otherwise show, with no visible hotspots along its length. The reel cuts to length at the marked points every 2.5 cm, so the run can be trimmed to fit the exact span being lit. It runs on 12V DC and needs a matching LED driver, supplied separately, rather than connecting to the mains directly.

Because it carries an IP65 rating, this strip is coated against moisture and works in damp and sheltered outdoor spots as well as dry indoor ones, which makes it a flexible choice for kitchen plinths, under-cabinet runs, coving, shelf edges, garden eaves and patio outlines. The dot-free COB face is well suited to surfaces viewed at close range, where spaced diodes would otherwise read as a row of dots. Rather than lighting a whole room, it is best thought of as accent and outline light, grazing along an edge or washing a surface, so coverage is judged by the length of the run rather than by floor area.

The strip is built on a flexible printed circuit on a 5 metre reel and is rated to 30,000 hours, with a CRI of Ra 90 for accurate colour on the surfaces it lights. The IP65 coating seals it against splashes and dust for wet and exposed positions. It cuts only at the marked 2.5 cm intervals and is fed from a separate 12V DC LED driver, which must be specified to suit the total wattage of the length installed. The wider range includes coated strips in other outputs alongside the drivers and connectors needed to complete a run.

Does this LED strip need a driver?

Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is supplied separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you install, allowing 8W for every metre of strip in the run.

Can the strip be cut to length, and where?

Yes. The strip can be shortened at the marked cut points, which fall every 2.5 cm along the reel. Only cut on those marks so the circuit stays intact, and the remaining length will work as normal once connected.

Is it suitable for outdoor or damp locations?

Yes. With an IP65 rating it is coated against moisture and dust, so it can be used in damp and sheltered outdoor positions as well as indoors. It suits patio outlines, garden eaves and bathroom coving where some exposure to water is likely.

How do I clean and maintain it?

Wipe the strip gently with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth once it is switched off and cool. Avoid soaking it or using harsh solvents on the IP65 coating, and check the run occasionally to keep dust off the light-emitting face.
