Description
The COB LED Strip is a continuous, dot-free line of diodes on a flexible 5m reel, giving a smooth even run of light with none of the spotting you get from spaced SMD chips. It draws 3W per metre and puts out 288 lumens per metre in a warm white 3000K tone, with a CRI of Ra80 for natural-looking colour. Often sold as LED tape, this is a low-voltage strip that runs from a 12V DC supply rather than direct from the mains.
It works best for indoor accent and task runs where the light source itself should stay hidden: under kitchen wall units, along shelving and cove details, behind a headboard or beneath a stair handrail. The continuous COB format makes it well suited to lines that are viewed directly, such as a glazed cabinet or an open shelf edge, because there are no visible dots reflecting in the glass. Output is modest at 3W per metre, so treat it as a layer of accent and under-cabinet light rather than a room's main source. The strip carries an IP00 rating, so keep it to dry interior locations and clear of bathrooms, splash zones and any damp or outdoor setting.
The strip is built on a flexible backing that cuts to length only at the marked points, every 2.5cm, with free cable ends for connection. It needs a matching 12V DC LED driver, sized to the total wattage of the run and supplied separately, so it does not plug straight into a wall socket. The warm white diodes are rated for around 30,000 hours and the reel weighs 52g. We also stock matching drivers and connectors across the strip range to complete an installation.

Frequently Asked
Does it need a separate driver?
Yes. This is a 12V DC strip, so it cannot run directly from the mains and needs a matching 12V LED driver. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing 3W for every metre of strip, and order it separately.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. It cuts to length at the marked cut points, which fall every 2.5cm along the reel. Only cut on those marks so the circuit stays intact, and use the free cable ends to make your connections.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. This strip is rated IP00, which means it is for dry indoor locations only. Keep it out of bathrooms, kitchens splash zones and any damp or outdoor setting, and choose a coated IP65 strip for those areas instead.
How do I clean the strip?
Switch off the supply and wipe gently along the strip with a dry or barely damp lint-free cloth. Avoid soaking it or using solvents, as the diodes and cable ends are not sealed against moisture on an IP00 strip.
