Description
The COB LED Strip is a continuous, dot-free line of diodes on a flexible reel, giving an even band of light with none of the spotting you get from spaced SMD strips. It draws 3W per metre and puts out 300 lumens per metre in a Daylight 6500K tone, with a CRI of Ra80 for clean, accurate colour. Sold by many as LED tape or a light strip in the US, it runs on 24V DC rather than straight off the mains, so it pairs with a matching 24V LED driver (supplied separately). The 5m reel cuts to length at the marked points every 5cm, letting you size each run to the gap you are lighting.
Because the light is delivered as a soft, linear glow rather than a directed beam, this strip suits cove detailing, under-cabinet task light, shelf and plinth lighting, stair edges and outline runs. The IP65 rating means it copes with damp and sheltered outdoor positions such as eaves, soffits, garden structures and bathroom coves, so a single reel can move between an indoor kitchen run and a covered patio edge. Coverage is best judged by the length you fit rather than a floor area, since the output spreads along the strip; plan the run to wash the surface you want lit and add a further reel for longer spans, joining at the cut points.
Mounted on a self-adhesive flexible backing, the strip presses onto clean, dry profiles and channels, and an aluminium extrusion is worth adding for heat spread and a tidier finish on longer runs. The free cable ends make wiring into the 24V driver straightforward, and the IP65 coating seals the diodes against splashes and dust. Rated for around 30,000 hours, it is a low-maintenance way to add linear light. Other lengths and complementary profiles sit alongside it in the range.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 24V DC, not mains voltage, so it must be wired to a matching 24V LED driver, which is supplied separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the run, allowing 3W for every metre of strip you connect.
Can it be cut to length?
Yes. The reel can be cut at the marked points every 5cm, so you can trim each run to fit the space exactly. Always cut on the marked line and use the free cable ends or a suitable connector to wire the cut section back to the driver.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, within reason. The IP65 rating means it is sealed against dust and water jets, so it is suitable for sheltered and exposed outdoor positions such as eaves, soffits and garden structures, as well as damp indoor spots. Keep the driver itself in a dry or suitably rated enclosure.
How do I clean it?
Switch off at the driver and let the strip cool, then wipe the coated surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it off. Avoid solvents and harsh cleaners, which can mark the IP65 coating. A gentle wipe is usually all that is needed to keep the output bright.
