Description

The COB LED Strip is a continuous, dot-free line of diodes mounted on a flexible reel, giving an even ribbon of light with no visible hotspots along its length. It draws 3W per metre and puts out 316 lumens per metre in a cool white 4000K tone, with a CRI of Ra 80 for clean, true colour rendering. Sold in the US as LED tape light, this is the format used for under-cabinet and cove runs where the diodes themselves should never be seen. The strip runs on 12V DC, so it pairs with a matching LED driver (sold separately) rather than connecting straight to the mains.

Because it is a smooth, low-profile line of light, the strip suits accent and task work rather than lighting a whole room: think under kitchen wall units, along shelf edges, inside display cabinets, behind a headboard or tucked into a ceiling cove. It is cut-to-length at the marked interval every 2.5cm, so a run can be trimmed to fit an exact shelf or recess. The 5m reel covers a generous length of edging or several shorter sections, and the cool white output works well where a crisp, bright accent is wanted over a warmer glow. Coverage is best judged by the run length you need to outline rather than by floor area.

The strip carries an IP00 rating, which means it is for dry indoor use only and should be kept clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location. It terminates in free cable ends for connection to the 12V driver, and each metre weighs around 52g, so it mounts easily on its adhesive backing. Rated for 30,000 hours, the diodes are integrated and not replaceable. The strip cuts only at the marked 2.5cm points, so plan cuts to those intervals. Does this strip need a driver?

Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it must be powered through a matching 12V LED driver rather than connected directly to the mains. The driver is sold separately, sized to the total wattage of the length you install.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. It can be trimmed at the marked cut points every 2.5cm along the reel. Always cut on a marked line so the circuit on the remaining section stays intact.

Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. This strip is rated IP00, which means dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, kitchens splash zones and any outdoor or damp location, as it has no moisture protection.

How do I keep the strip clean?

Wipe the COB surface gently with a dry or barely damp lint-free cloth once the power is off and the strip has cooled. Avoid solvents and do not let moisture reach the cut ends or connections.
