Description

The Alderley is a 305mm Tiffany-style table lamp with a geometric art deco glass shade mounted on a stepped vintage bronze base. The shade combines flat blue glass panels with textured clear glass sections, arranged in radiating lines that taper from a narrow 80mm top to a wide 305mm base. When lit, the blue panels shift to aqua and the textured glass sections create a shimmering diffusion across the surface.

Designed for side tables in living rooms, bedrooms and studies, the lamp provides ambient light filtered through the coloured glass while the bronze base adds weight and visual grounding. The 504mm total height suits standard side tables and bedside units where the lamp sits roughly at seated eye level. The stepped bronze base and column give the lamp an art deco profile that pairs with both traditional and mid-century interiors.

Each glass section is leaded into the metal framework using traditional Tiffany construction methods, where copper foil wraps each glass edge before soldering. The vintage bronze finish on the metal base and shade frame has a warm, slightly darkened patina that softens the contrast with the blue and clear glass. The lamp accepts a single standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing control over light output and colour temperature.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Alderley take?

The lamp takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair Tiffany-style lamps with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K to complement the coloured glass.

How is the glass shade constructed?

The shade uses traditional Tiffany leaded glass construction. Each glass section is wrapped in copper foil and soldered into the metal framework, creating permanent joins between the blue, clear and textured glass panels.

Does the blue glass colour change when lit?

Yes. When unlit the glass panels read as a deeper blue. When lit from inside, the light transmission shifts the colour towards aqua, particularly where thinner glass sections allow more light through.

What weight does the base have?

The vintage bronze base is substantial metal with a stepped profile. The combined weight of the base and glass shade gives the lamp stability on standard side tables without needing additional weighting.
