Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a pearl-finish steel faceplate measuring 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high. The plate projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, making it one of the lowest-profile blanking plates in the Knightsbridge range. An integrated gasket around the rear perimeter seals against the back box to prevent dust ingress and improve the IP20 rating.

Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installations where electrical boxes need to be blanked off during redecoration, room reconfiguration or after removing obsolete accessories, the plate fixes to standard 25mm back boxes using two visible screws at top and bottom. The earth terminal on the rear allows the blanking plate to maintain earth continuity within the circuit, which is required under BS 7671 wiring regulations even when the box is not in active use.

The pearl finish is a soft off-white satin metal with a subtle warm tone that sits between pure white and brushed stainless steel. It pairs well with neutral wall colours and works across both contemporary and traditional interiors without the stark contrast of bright white plastic or the cooler tone of polished chrome. The premium-grade steel construction resists warping and provides a more substantial feel than polymer alternatives. The plate carries IEC 60670-1 certification and a 25-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked

What back box does this fit?

The blanking plate fits standard 2-gang 25mm back boxes used throughout UK electrical installations. The plate fixes with two visible screws at top and bottom, and the integrated gasket seals against the box perimeter.

Why does a blanking plate need an earth terminal?

BS 7671 wiring regulations require earth continuity to be maintained throughout the circuit even when a box is blanked off. The earth terminal on the rear of the plate allows the electrician to connect the earth wire from the back box, keeping the circuit compliant.

How does the pearl finish compare to white or chrome?

Pearl is a soft off-white satin metal finish with a subtle warm tone. It sits between bright white plastic and brushed stainless steel, providing a neutral aesthetic that works across contemporary and traditional interiors without the stark contrast of pure white or the cooler tone of polished chrome.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this flat-plate blanking plate in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
