Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket features an antique brass screwless faceplate with black socket inserts that hide when a plug is inserted. Double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines on each outlet, providing additional safety over single-pole designs. The faceplate is fabricated from 201 stainless steel and finished in antique brass, which gives a darker, warmer tone than polished brass and ages naturally over time.
Designed for residential and hospitality installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 13A rating per outlet handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W. A built-in gasket behind the faceplate forms a seal against the wall, preventing dust ingress and creating a flush finish on plaster and painted surfaces.
The antique brass finish pairs well with traditional, heritage and warm-toned contemporary interiors, particularly where other metalwork (door furniture, light fittings, taps) uses aged or antique brass. The black inserts behind the brass rockers and socket apertures give a defined edge to each control and hide the back of the cover plate. The socket carries a 25-year manufacturer guarantee and is certified to BS 1363-2, the British Standard for 13A socket outlets.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 9.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of 31.9mm.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
What does double-pole switching mean?
Double-pole (DP) switches isolate both the live and neutral lines when switched off, rather than just the live line as in single-pole designs. This provides additional safety when disconnecting high-draw appliances like washing machines or tumble dryers.
How does the antique brass finish differ from polished brass?
Antique brass has a darker, warmer tone with a lower sheen than polished brass. The finish is designed to age naturally over time, developing a patina that deepens the colour. Polished brass remains brighter and more reflective unless intentionally aged.
