What floor depth is needed for installation?

The socket recesses 30mm into the floor and requires a 35mm minimum back box depth below the floor surface. This means a total floor void of at least 65mm is needed for safe installation. Consult a qualified electrician before cutting floor voids in timber or concrete floors.

Is the socket always live or can it be switched off?

This is an unswitched socket, meaning it remains live whenever the circuit is energised. The spring-loaded cover protects the outlet when not in use but does not isolate the power. If switched control is needed, install a separate isolator switch on the circuit or choose a switched floor socket model.

Can this be used in bathrooms or wet areas?

No. The IP20 rating means the socket is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but has no protection against water ingress. It is suitable for dry indoor environments only and must not be installed in bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or any location where water or cleaning fluids might enter the socket.

How does the spring-loaded cover work?
