Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP switched socket pairs a polished brass flat plate with a black insert and matching brass rocker switch. The flat plate design projects just 2.5mm from the wall once installed, making it one of the lowest-profile socket options for walls where standard projection would interfere with furniture placement or create visual bulk.
Designed for residential and hospitality installation, the socket uses double-pole switching to isolate both live and neutral lines when switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances. The 13A rating handles standard UK loads up to 3,120W. The socket fits a 25mm minimum back box depth and includes a built-in gasket that sits flush to the wall surface, helping to seal the gap between plate and plasterwork.
The polished brass finish delivers a warm metallic accent that pairs well with traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The black insert behind the brass faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to the outlet aperture. Once a plug is inserted, the black recedes visually, leaving the polished brass as the dominant surface. The flat plate is fixed with visible brass screws at top and bottom, contributing to the heritage aesthetic while allowing the plate to be removed for redecorating.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds just 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, making this one of the lowest-profile socket options available.
What does double-pole switching mean?
Double-pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the switch is in the off position, providing an additional layer of safety compared to single-pole switching which only breaks the live line. This is particularly useful for high-draw appliances.
Is the plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The flat plate is fixed with two visible brass screws at top and bottom. The plate can be removed for painting around the socket and refitted without re-wiring, though you will need to isolate the circuit at the consumer unit before unscrewing.
What other finishes are available in the flat plate range?
Knightsbridge produces this flat plate style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
