Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX fan isolator switch provides triple-pole switching for extractor fans in bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens, mounted behind a polished brass flat plate with a matching brass rocker. The triple-pole configuration isolates the fan circuit completely when switched off, allowing the fan to be serviced or cleaned while the rest of the room's electrical circuits remain active.
Designed for residential and commercial installation, the switch fits a shallow 16mm minimum back box depth and projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, making it one of the lowest-profile switches in the Knightsbridge range. The flat plate has no raised edges or bevels, sitting flush with the wall surface and pairing cleanly with modern tiled bathrooms, utility areas and contemporary interiors where visible hardware is kept minimal.
The polished brass finish is a warm metallic tone that works well in traditional bathrooms with brass taps and towel rails, and in warmer contemporary schemes with gold or brass accents. The switch is rated at 10AX on 230V, handling loads up to 2,300W, which covers standard domestic extractor fans and inline duct fans. The plate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a polished brass coating, and carries an IP20 rating suitable for general indoor use outside wet zones.

Frequently Asked
What is a fan isolator switch used for?
A fan isolator switch allows an extractor fan to be switched off and isolated from the mains supply for maintenance, cleaning or servicing, while the rest of the room's lighting and power circuits remain operational. Building regulations in the UK typically require a means of isolation for bathroom extractor fans.
What back box depth is required?
The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth. The ultra-flat plate design projects just 2.5mm from the wall once installed, making it suitable for shallow mounting situations where a standard-depth back box cannot be accommodated.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The switch carries an IP20 rating, which means it is suitable for general indoor use but not rated for wet zones (zones 0, 1 or 2 as defined by IEE wiring regulations). It should be positioned outside the zones, typically on the wall outside the bathroom or in a dry area of the room away from baths, showers and basins.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this ultra-flat fan isolator in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, matt black, white and antique brass. Use the search function or browse the Knightsbridge category to find other variants stocked at Niori.
