Description

The Streton is a pole-mounted LED street light built for roads, car parks and amenity areas. It draws 20W and delivers 2800 lumens of neutral 4000K white light, working at an efficiency of 140 lm/W. The wide asymmetric beam of 140 degrees by 90 degrees spreads light forward and across the carriageway or parking bay rather than straight down, which is how outdoor area lighting earns its US billing as a parking lot or shoebox-style area light. It mounts on a pole, column or post top, never to a building wall.

The asymmetric throw suits linear and open settings: a residential street, a service road, a small car park or a footpath edge. Mounted on a column or street pole at the typical height for the run, the forward spread lets each unit cover the ground ahead and to the sides, so fixtures can be spaced along a road or around a parking area for even coverage without dark gaps between them. The 4000K tone keeps surfaces, signage and number plates clearly readable at night, and the qualitative reach favours overlap along a route rather than a single tight pool of light.

Construction is aluminium alloy in a grey finish, rated IP66 against dust and powerful water jets so it copes with fully exposed outdoor and wet conditions, with an IK08 impact rating for knocks. It is a non-dimmable integrated LED fitting with a rated life of around 50,000 hours, and at 844g it sits comfortably on a standard spigot or pole top. The Streton range includes further pole-mounted street and car park luminaires at other outputs to match different road and parking layouts.

Frequently Asked

How is the Streton mounted?

It is designed for pole, column or post-top mounting on a standard spigot, fitting roadside columns, car park posts and amenity poles. It is not a wall fitting and should not be fixed to the side of a building. This keeps the asymmetric beam aimed correctly along the road or across the parking area.

Can it be used in fully exposed outdoor and wet locations?

Yes. The Streton is rated IP66, which means it is sealed against dust and protected against powerful water jets, so it suits open roads, car parks and other fully exposed sites. The IK08 rating also gives it useful resistance to impact and knocks.

How should the fittings be spaced along a road or car park?

The 140 by 90 degree asymmetric beam spreads light forward and sideways rather than straight down, so units are spaced along a run to let their coverage overlap. This gives even brightness across the carriageway or parking bays without dark patches between poles. Final spacing depends on pole height and the lux level required for the site.

What does this replace and how bright is it?

The Streton produces 2800 lumens from 20W at an efficiency of 140 lm/W in a neutral 4000K white. As a compact, energy-efficient LED unit it serves smaller streets, service roads and car parks where older low-wattage discharge lanterns once ran, using far less power for a comparable spread of clear, even light.
