Description

This is the smallest of the three hanging lanterns in the Station Master range, the railway platform pattern: a spun shade under a hoop or a trussed cast arm, over a clear glass dome. It stands 210mm tall and measures 320mm across. The chain is 300mm, which is what gives the overall drop.

It belongs on a porch, a covered entrance, a carriage arch or an open-sided outbuilding. It weighs 4.50KG, which an ordinary wall plug into masonry will carry. Harte rate it IP44, which covers splashing from any direction, so a covered or partly sheltered position is right; for a fully exposed position look at the IP65 fittings in the range. The same pattern runs from 210mm to 530mm, so you can match a pair across two positions without changing the look. The shade is hand spun copper on a black body: it arrives bright and dulls back to a brown patina within a few months, then to green over years.

Glazing is polycarbonate and the lamp is an E27 screw fitting supplied without a bulb, so you choose the output and the colour rather than accepting a sealed unit. The maximum is 100W in total across one lamp; a 7W LED at 2700K is the usual choice. It is made in copper and galvanised steel. Harte make, spray and glaze each light to order in County Wexford, so allow two to five weeks, and any RAL colour can go on in place of gloss black if you say so when ordering. An LED panel option is available in place of the lamp holder. Wiring an outdoor fitting needs a qualified electrician.
