Description
The Randhurst is a 413mm outdoor wall lantern built from composite material finished in copper oxide, housing a single E27 bulb behind clear seeded glass panels. The composite construction resists corrosion and weathering better than sheet metal lanterns, while the copper oxide finish develops a patinated surface texture that recalls antique gas lighting. The IP44 rating protects against water spray from any direction, making it suitable for porches, covered patios and wall positions sheltered by eaves.
Designed to pair with front door entrances, porch walls and garden walkways, the Randhurst mounts directly to external masonry or timber cladding via a rear back plate. The 186mm projection from the wall gives clearance over typical door frames and window sills, while the 187mm width suits wall spans between 300-600mm where a single lantern provides enough light throw. The clear seeded glass shows visible air bubbles and texture that diffuses the bulb's light into a softer spread than flat clear glass.
The composite frame incorporates visible grommets and rivets moulded into the surface, stepped detailing on the crown, and open vents at the top of the lantern body that reference heritage gas lamp construction. The handle loop at the top is non-functional — it's part of the aesthetic rather than a carrying handle. The copper oxide finish is a mid-brown oxidised copper tone rather than bright polished copper, so it pairs better with aged brick, timber cladding and heritage exterior palettes than with contemporary render or cladding systems.
The E27 lampholder accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W, including LED, halogen and filament types. Most users pair this lantern with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 6-8W and 2200K-2700K to match the traditional aesthetic. The 5-year guarantee covers the composite body and finish against degradation, cracking and colour fade under normal UK outdoor exposure.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Randhurst takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. A warm-white LED filament bulb at 6-8W and 2200K-2700K suits the traditional aesthetic of the lantern.
Is it rated for fully exposed outdoor positions?
The IP44 rating protects against water spray from any direction, so it suits porches, covered patios and walls sheltered by eaves. It is not rated for fully exposed positions subject to driving rain or submersion.
What is the composite material?
The lantern body is moulded from a resin-based composite material rather than metal. This resists corrosion, does not rust, and holds the copper oxide finish without degradation under UK outdoor conditions. It weighs less than equivalent metal lanterns but provides the same structural rigidity.
Does the copper finish change over time?
The copper oxide finish is already patinated to a mid-brown oxidised tone when manufactured. It does not develop further patina like raw copper or brass would, so the appearance remains consistent over time under normal outdoor exposure.
