Outdoor LED Wall Lantern With PIR - White

The Knightsbridge LANT2W is an outdoor LED wall lantern with an integrated passive infrared (PIR) sensor, built from white polycarbonate with an opal diffuser. The 8W LED module inside produces 555 lumens of cool white 4000K light and is rated for 60,000 hours L70B50 lifespan. The PIR sensor covers a 90° detection angle and can be overridden manually to keep the light on continuously.

Designed for porch, gate, side-passage and garden wall installation, the lantern carries an IP54 rating making it resistant to dust ingress and splashing water from any direction. The polycarbonate construction resists corrosion and impact better than traditional metal or glass lanterns, and requires minimal maintenance beyond occasional cleaning. The upward-facing traditional lantern profile suits period properties, cottage-style homes and Georgian brick facades.

The 375mm height and 230mm projection give the lantern a substantial presence on a wall without overwhelming a typical 1.8-2m door surround. The opal diffuser softens the LED source and spreads light evenly across the front and sides of the fitting, covering a 315° beam angle. The cool white 4000K colour temperature provides functional visibility for pathways and entrances rather than decorative warm accent lighting. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation.

What triggers the PIR sensor?

The passive infrared sensor detects body heat movement within a 90° detection angle in front of the lantern. Detection range is typically 6-8m depending on ambient temperature and the size of the moving object. The sensor can be overridden to keep the light on continuously if required.

Can it be used in exposed coastal locations?

The IP54 rating provides protection against dust and splashing water, and the polycarbonate construction resists corrosion better than metal fittings. However, in heavily salt-laden coastal environments regular cleaning is recommended to prevent salt build-up on the diffuser and housing.

Is it suitable for bathrooms or wet rooms?

No. IP54 is designed for outdoor use where water contact is limited to rain and splashing. Wet rooms and enclosed bathrooms require IP65 or higher due to prolonged moisture exposure.

How is the polycarbonate cleaned?

Wipe the housing and diffuser with a damp soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents which can scratch or cloud the polycarbonate surface. The opal diffuser can be removed for more thorough cleaning if needed.
