Description

The Ideal Lux Next is a 5m fabric lighting cable with a black textile sheath covering a 5mm diameter electrical core. The woven fabric covering replaces standard PVC insulation, turning the cable itself into a visible design element for pendant lights, chandeliers and exposed-cable installations where the cable run is part of the aesthetic.

Designed for residential pendant lights and hospitality installations where the cable drop is visible, the fabric sheath is flexible enough to be routed through ceiling roses, cable grips and pendant suspension hardware without kinking. The 5m length allows for ceiling heights up to 4m with cable to spare for routing, or can be cut to exact length for lower drops. The black finish suits matt black, industrial and contemporary pendant fittings.

The textile covering provides abrasion resistance where the cable passes through metal hardware or rubs against ceiling fixings during installation. The 5mm outer diameter is narrow enough to pass through standard cable grips and threaded suspension rods used in pendant light fittings. The cable is rated for indoor use and carries a 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux.

Can the cable be cut to a shorter length?

Yes. The cable can be trimmed to the exact length needed for your installation. Cut with wire cutters or cable scissors, then strip the ends as required for termination into the pendant fitting and ceiling connection.

Is the fabric sheath heat-resistant?

The fabric covering is designed for decorative pendant light use where the cable is not in direct contact with bulbs or hot surfaces. Keep the cable at least 100mm away from bulb positions and do not use with high-wattage halogen fittings that generate significant heat.

Will the black fabric fade over time?

The textile sheath is dyed black throughout the weave and rated for indoor use. In well-ventilated rooms away from direct sunlight, the colour remains stable. Prolonged exposure to UV light (e.g. near south-facing windows) may cause gradual fading over several years.
