Description

The Mah Pro is a PIR motion sensor used to switch compatible lighting on and off automatically when movement is detected. Often searched for as a motion sensor light control, or in US terms a PIR occupancy sensor, it runs on a 220-240V AC supply and adds automatic operation to a fitting that would otherwise be switched by hand. The unit is compact and very light at 84g, so it sits neatly alongside a luminaire or wall point without adding bulk.

This sensor suits spaces where hands-free switching is useful, such as hallways, landings, stairwells, utility rooms, storerooms and entrance areas where lights should come on as someone arrives and turn off once the space is empty. Because it is a detection device rather than a light source, its coverage is best understood as a detection field in front of the sensor rather than as a lit floor area. Position it so the area you want to monitor falls within its line of sight, keeping in mind that PIR detection responds most reliably to movement across the field of view rather than directly towards the unit.

Rated IP20, the Mah Pro is intended for dry indoor locations and should not be fitted in exposed or damp positions. It operates across the standard 220-240V AC mains range, which makes it straightforward to wire in line with a compatible fitting. The low 84g weight keeps mounting simple on a variety of surfaces. Wipe the lens occasionally with a soft dry cloth to keep detection consistent, as dust on the sensor face can reduce sensitivity. This sensor forms part of the wider Mah Pro range available from Niori alongside the matching emergency luminaires.

Frequently Asked

Which fittings is this sensor compatible with?

The Mah Pro is designed to switch mains-voltage lighting on a 220-240V AC supply. It works with compatible luminaires within the Mah Pro range and other fittings rated for the same supply. Check the wiring arrangement of your fitting before installation to confirm compatibility.

What is the detection range and angle?

As a PIR sensor it detects body heat moving across its field of view in front of the unit. For best results, mount it so the area you want to monitor sits within its line of sight, since movement across the field is detected more reliably than movement straight towards the sensor. Position and mounting height both affect the area covered.

Can the time and light settings be adjusted?

PIR sensors of this type typically allow the on-time and ambient light threshold to be set so the light stays on for a chosen period after the last movement, and only triggers when light levels are low enough to need it. Refer to the supplied instructions for the specific adjustment options on this unit.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The Mah Pro is rated IP20, which means it is suited to dry indoor locations only and offers no protection against moisture. It should be fitted in spaces such as hallways, stairwells and utility rooms rather than in exposed or damp positions.
