The Impossible 85cm Flared Pendant Light is a wide, sculptural shade built from a single continuous piece of woven painted metal mesh. Its form takes its cue from a flared hat rather than a lens: a narrow, waisted crown gathers the mesh at the top before it opens outward into a broad skirt, with the hem turned up at the rim. Measuring 85cm across at its widest point, it stands 35cm in height and hangs on a fixed drop of 230cm. The fitting is one unbroken woven body, not a group of separate shades. Designed by Massimo Mussapi, it is offered with an integrated LED module rated 3 x 10W at 2700K, giving 3000 lm and dimmable, or in an E27 version taking 1 x E27 100W max, with lamps not included on those versions.

This is a piece for rooms with height to give it room to breathe. It suits an entrance hall, a stairwell, a double-height living space or a generous dining area, where the wide skirt can be read from below and the woven texture catches the light. The 230cm drop is set at manufacture and cannot be shortened on site, so it is best planned into tall spaces from the outset. It works equally well over a large table or as a single focal fitting in an open-plan room.

The shade is formed from painted metal mesh, with the metalwork offered in Black, Burnished, Gold or White. Wipe the mesh gently with a soft dry cloth to lift dust, avoiding abrasive cleaners and liquids on the finish. The listing carries 8 variants across the LED and E27 options.
